Universal Truths
20 minutes is a really long time, staying aerobic is a major key – we are looking for consistent rounds
If gymnastics grips mess up your double unders, do not wear them
Sweat is the enemy, wear sweat bands
Set your dumbells up half a step behind your bar (so you can one step forward to DU)
Set your DU rope a half step forward and perpendicular to your pull up bar so you can step forward/turn into your DU (to shorten distance travelled for rope arch)
Chalk on a box at hip height on the DB side of the pull up bar so you don’t have to bend to grab it
Put a water bottle mixed with Gatorade on the chalk box as well
Pre-chalk your bar and the DBs
Do DB thrusters with hands pushed forward on handle and back dumbbell heads front stacked on shoulder (so the DB is vertical and you shorten the distance to lock out/decrease shoulder strain)
Set up a clock that you can see while double undering, TTBing and thrustering
Elite Strategy
You are going unbroken, same as everyone else which means this all comes down to transitions
NOTE: If you are picking a pace over +0:50/round then you should break the TTB in half
Pick a total transitional pace (seconds between movements added together) based on your movement times from warm up (how long it takes you to do 4 Thruster, 6 TTB & 24 DU at a comfortable pace) subtracted from your goal time per round, then divide that number by 3 = rest between movements
A second of wasted transition each round has a massive impact on score, so pace is all that matters here
Every 3 rounds on your rest from DB to TTB take a swig of gatorade
Send it the last 90 seconds and hold on
Everyone Else Strategy
Breaking things up is totally acceptable, you will be taking long transitions between movements to stay aerobic anyways so it makes more sense to break things up and have more rest periods – time under tension/in movement is the enemy
Pick a total transitional pace (seconds between movements added together) based on your movement times from warm up (how long it takes you to do 4 Thruster, 6 TTB & 24 DU at a comfortable pace) subtracted from your goal time per round, then divide that number by the number of transitions decided upon in the point above = rest between movements/in-movement breaks
Every 2 rounds on your rest from DB to TTB take a swig of gatorade
Send it in the last 0:50
